~Transitioning Decor Between Seasons~

Happy Thursday! Hope you've had a great week so far! We are experiencing some abnormally 'cool' and rainy weather, with highs only in the upper 70's.  Weather like this has me in the mood for Fall.  I have been using these dreary days to do some deep cleaning. Of course, with deep cleaning, comes the desire to transition some of my decor for late Summer, in anticipation of Fall. While I am not ready to pull out the true fall decor, I have put away a lot of my Spring/Summer decor.

Throws and Pillows:

One of the things that I like to use are faux fur pillows and throws. These are actually becoming quite popular to use year 'round, especially with the popularity of chic, glam decor right now. I have paired an oversized faux fur pillow with a small leopard accent pillow, along with my favorite leather fringed pouf pillow.

Fresh flowers:

During the Spring and Summer, I have used lots of white and pink flowers. Yesterday, I was so excited to see these orange roses. They provided a perfect pop of transitional color to the family room coffee table. Sunflowers are another favorite for this time of year.

Scented candles:

On one of our really dreary days, my daughter and I went to Bath and Body Works, to stock up on the new fall candles, that we like to burn on a daily basis. While we picked up some in the traditional fall scents, we also picked up some that are quite transitional. For the past couple of days, we have been enjoying 'Marshmallow Fireside'. It doesn't scream, "Fall".  It just gives the home a very warm and welcoming scent.

I've also spent a little bit of time adding some new desk accents. I shared this image on Instagram last week. (Be sure to follow me there, as well. I often post things that may not appear here on the blog.)

I love the crisp look of black and white stripes, with that 'pop' of pink!

What about you? Are you gearing up for Fall?
I'd love to hear how and if you transition your decor!
Thanks so much for stopping by today !
Happy Decorating!

  3. I know that your home is warm and inviting any time of year, but I bet you take it up a notch during fall and winter:-) Love your fall accents, and I bought some summer candles from BBW after you recommended them, and love them still. I guess I need to transition over to more autumnal scents now:-)

  8. I'm resisting the temptation to transition to fall just yet but I always love the colors of the season. I don't think I've ever bought candles and Bed & Bath before. The roses are beautiful!

  11. I'm not transitioning to fall yet because it is still blazing hot here in SC! I don't think I could take the fireside marshmallow candle because I would have to make smores every time I smelled it! I don't have much willpower! Your transitional décor does look lovely as always!

  13. It is really hot where I live, it doesn't cool down until November. I can tell fall is on its way by the crepe mrytle shedding its leaves and the morning air is different so I enjoyed your suggestions on how to transition to fall.

  14. Love those pretty orange roses! I have not done any Fall decorating yet. It is still blazing hot here in GA. We've been fortunate to get some rain lately, but it hasn't really cooled us down much. It's just left it more sticky and humid. Ugh! It doesn't usually really start to feel like Fall here (to me) until October. So, I will probably continue having a "summer frame of mind" until then.

  15. I am so ready for fall Shenita!!! Your ideas are just beautiful. Love the orange roses with your pretty blue and white ginger jars. This week the humidity is suppose to disappear and cooler temps are going to move on in...the perfect week to get into my attic to fish out some of my fall items. Thanks for the inspiration and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!!!
