~Louisiana Memories~

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

While here, in Louisiana, I love to drive around to look at my favorite old houses, to see how they have evolved over the years. I shared this one on my instagram last week, as my all-time favorite, since childhood.

I have always loved the setting of this home, with its stately columns and large wraparound porches.
The huge crepe myrtles are in full bloom; and everything is so lush and green.
This was just a quick snap with my iPhone; so, it's not the best quality. (I felt like such a stalker!)

I really like this home, also. It's the Lewis House, which is now a Victorian Bed and Breakfast.

The 2005 Southern Living Idea House was also located here...

This building is City Hall. It also houses the Civic Center, in the back, where Dear Hubby and I got married 26 years ago, in front of 300 of our closest friends and! We also had our reception here. It has not changed a bit.

I am really enjoying my time here. Last week, I introduced you to daughter #2, as she celebrated her 22nd birthday. This week, it's all about Daughter #1.

This will be a busy week of packing, as she prepares to make her move back home. She is leaving her current job as a Critical Care registered nurse, to begin her dream job in ICU.  I shared with you, in a previous post, the purchases we've already made for her new place.

The rug...

The ottoman...

The counter stools...

And some of her accessories...

Since that time, her living room furniture has been delivered. We just need to swap out the pillows, that came with the sofa, for something more chic...with fluff, bling and pops of color.

I also located her coffee/end tables, to be picked up next week. They are octagonal in shape, but the bases are similar in design to this...

We are also looking at some canvas artwork to incorporate. She really liked these...

I'm also envisioning some pops of orange...

So, we are full steam ahead now. I hope to have more to share with you soon!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I may not be posting for the next few days; but, I will be popping in to see what you're sharing!

Wishing you a great day!!

~Celebrating In Louisiana~

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Hope you're keeping cool in this hot, humid weather!

Yesterday, I decided to hop across the state line, to visit daughter #2, for her 22nd birthday. We've never spent a birthday apart; and I was not about to start now!

We had a blast eating our way around town! Who could resist these?

We got them while they were HOT!

No trip home is complete without a stop at Southern Maid Donuts!
However, dinner really threw our healthy eating out of the window!

We enjoyed these delicious seafood platters at Walk-On's Bistreaux and Bar. The huge shrimp were so fresh; and the jalapeƱo hush puppies were awesome. The waffle fries and sweet tea were just the icing on the cake! Of course, everything was fried! Lol!

Obviously, we can't eat like this everyday. So, today it was back to salads.

By the way, if you are active on Instagram, feel free to follow my new page there, as well!
That's where I'm spending lots of time these days!

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you're having a great day!

~Aesthetic Content Candles~

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you had a great weekend!

If you have been following my blog for any length of time, you know that I have a great love for luxury candles. When Aesthetic Content asked me to give theirs a try, of course, I jumped at the chance! Aesthetic Content is a Dallas-based company; and their products are sold in over 150 boutiques nationwide and internationally. Crafted in the USA, their candles are a cosmetic grade soy wax blend, with clean burning metal-free wicks. They contain no dyes, pesticides, sulfates or parabens; and they are free of major allergens. These room-filling fragrances are derived of fine essential and fragrance oils.

The candles are packaged in a white glass container, with a sustainable cork lid; and they are packaged in a crystal-clear BPA-free gift box. They're beautiful indulgences to give or to keep!

I received two fragrances to try. The first was "Timo Tangerine".
"This beautifully balanced scented soy candle zings with white tea leaves, tangerine peel, bergamot, cut thyme and zesty lemongrass."

The second fragrance was "Midnight Brezza".
"This moonlight breeze conjures red cedar, sandalwood, and exotic vetiver with alluring musk, spiced clove, cumin and green cardamom."

For the first burn, as suggested, I trimmed the wicks to 1/4 inch. The suggested burn time was 2 hours to achieve the desired melt pool. Both of these were beautiful fragrances. To put them to the ultimate test, I tried both in our family room, which is very open, with 20 ft. ceilings; and the fragrances quickly filled the room. I even walked upstairs; and the scent was wonderful!

I would highly recommend these wonderful candles! If you are in the Dallas area, the Aesthetic Content candles can be found in stores such as Urban Manor, Life of Riley, Blue Print and Nicholson-Hardie. They can also be purchased from their beautiful website:

~The Fun Has Begun~

Hi Everyone! Hope you had a great Fourth of July!!

Our daughters were home for the weekend; and we took a couple of hours to drop some recent purchases off at our oldest daughter's new place. Her new living room furniture will be delivered today; and we wanted to get her rug in place, prior to delivery. One of our favorite places to shop for quality furniture, at great prices, is Weir's Furniture. My daughter purchased this ottoman for her bedroom. We will place it at the foot of her bed, once the bedroom furniture is delivered.

Love the tufting and the nailhead trim. It also opens for additional storage.

When we went to the Weir's customer pickup location, to get the ottoman, we realized that they also have an outlet center on site. We decided to take a look at their rugs, hoping to find the perfect one for her living area. We were so excited to find this one...

Love the pattern; and the size fits the space perfectly! It's beautiful with the hardwood floors. While we were at the apartment, Dear Hubby assembled her counter stools. She found these online at Kohl's.

We also dropped off all of the accessories that she purchased a couple of weeks ago. The branches from ZGallerie worked perfectly as her statement piece on the island.

Once the living room furniture is delivered this afternoon, we will probably go to shop for the coffee table and end tables. Things are moving along pretty quickly; and I hope to have some additional pictures soon. You can also follow along with me on my new Instagram page.

Hope you are having a great day; and thanks for stopping by!!
