Christmas Mantel 2012

Happy Monday, Everyone! I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! This year, we spent the holiday with Dear Hubby's family in Alabama. While there, my sweet sister-in-law supplied me with an abundance of magnolia branches from her 'humongous' magnolia trees. They were just the accents that I needed to get my decorating under way.

My Christmas plans evolved from the purchase of these
fleur de lis ornaments from Hobby Lobby, several months ago.
It was love at first sight!
I thought the pewter color would be pretty, when mixed with ivory, gold and copper.
(That's my color scheme for this year.)

I started with a pre-lit faux pine garland. After I fluffed it and wrapped it with ribbon, I simply stuck a few magnolia branches in; and proceeded to decorate. The wire branches in the pine garland can easily be used to wrap and secure the magnolia branches in place. I love the thickness that the magnolia branches add.

I left the fall lanterns in place and added the guilded reindeer.
I finished the mantel with our monogrammed stockings from last year and crystal embellished candlesticks.
We will be using lots of crystal this year.

The garland is also decorated with fleur de lis ornaments, glittered magnolia ornaments, cherubs, beaded grape clusters, pheasant feathers and copper ornaments.

So, that's the mantel for this year. Dear Hubby has put the lights on the tree; and I will start decorating it today. Hopefully, I'll be able to share it with you soon.

Hope you're having a great day! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Happy Decorating!!!

  44. Gorgeous as expected, Shenita! Magnolia leaves and gold anything are go-to foundation pieces for a touch of Southern Christmas beauty. I bought a fresh Fraser fur garland at Lowe's to use with magnolia leaves from my very giving and generous neighbor's tree. It is a timeless, traditional, and elegant material to work with, and the best part? Inexpensive! That's right decoristas- save $$$ where and when you can and put that savings towards things that sparkle! I am inspired!

  45. How very lovely! Maybe I'll do my mantle next. I'm working on my decor a little at a time. I spend so little time at home! Plus I've developed plantar faciitis is one foot a little over a week ago so being on my feet is painful - bad timing - I have so much decorating to do! I have a magnolia tree I may grab some magnolia leaves and follow your lead. I'm headed to my parents for my Dad's 80th birthday celebration on Saturday and I usually bring back pinecones and pine and cedar boughs from their woods, magnolia mixed with it would be awesome. Thanks for sharing!

  46. Beautiful and elegant, Shenita. Everything is so stunning. We have a magnolia tree but it is so tall and I cannot reach the leaves so I usually just use our holly berries which are easier to cut......Christine

  65. We are all decked out too! My mantel was the last to be done as I was changing out a lot this year. I have done the same for so long that it was really fun.

I love the fleur de lys and the magnolia branches. What a fabulous look. We have lots of snowy crystal this year too. I think decorating is my absolute favorite thing to do, along with listening to Christmas music.
