Have you ever had those little projects that you wanted to do; but for some reason, you just never got around to them? It's not that they were terribly difficult or anything...you just didn't do them. Well, the brass trim on my fireplace doors had to go! It was there when we moved in; and it has always bothered me. The other day, I shared with you the fireplace screen that my daughters had given me. I also mentioned that I had plans to rid the doors of the brass trim. Well, looking at it, glaring at me through my new screen, was just the incentive that I needed! It was so easy, that I'm kicking myself that I hadn't done it sooner!
Before...
I went into my paint stash and pulled out the Rustoleum High Heat paint and a paint brush. Thirty minutes later, the brass was history!!!
After...
Ahhh...much better!
Now, the focus is on the pretty travertine marble in the surround.

So, no need to replace those fireplace doors! Paint the trim!
It's an easy fix!
Best of all, there was no money spent!
(Now, if the stores around here would just get some real pumpkins, I could finish off the hearth! Lol!)

Hope you're having a great day today!
Much better!! By the way, your screen is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I love the screen too!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful, Shenita! And, I LOVE your fleur-de-lis fireplace screen!
ReplyDeleteMuch better. Great fleur de lis screen:)
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Shenita!! I love that screen its gorgeous~!!
ReplyDeleteThe screen is gorgeous, Shenita! So happy the brass was so easy to paint!
ReplyDeleteShenita, the screen looks great!!! We did replace ours cause it was one of those from the 80's that had 3 inch brass all around, plus the glass was messed up. Have a great weeke and I hope you find some pumpkins. I am getting mine on Friday on the way back from settlement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteThey look great! You're right, it really shows off the tile now. I just painted my firebox surround & I, too, can't figure out why I didn't do it before.
ReplyDeleteShenita, I love the screen, too. I also like it better w/o the brass; although, I just heard that "brass is back" and I do love brass!
ReplyDeleteQuick and easy, and you got a brand new look, Shenita! I had thought about doing that to ours, but the tile surround is black and I'm not sure it will look too good.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean - I think the fact that I have so many little projects to do paralyzes me. It's amazing how knocking just one of those little projects off your list gives you the energy you need to do a few more. Your fireplace looks great! BTW, we finally got pumpkins here last Thursday (I was checking daily), so hopefully you'll get them soon.
ReplyDeleteShenita, it looks beautiful! It always surprises me what a difference a little paint can make. Your whole mantle/fireplace looks so pretty all dressed up for Fall and with its new screen!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing what a little paint can do! Your fireplace looks beautiful Shenita!!
ReplyDeleteLove your fall mantel!

ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely change Isnt it amazing what paint can do? Love the Fleur de lis screen.
ReplyDeleteLooks much better, we did the exact same thing. It makes a huge difference. We were just being lazy. It took no time really.

Amazing what a huge difference something so small can make! I'm the world's worst at putting off those kinds of things...
ReplyDeleteLooks so much better. I have the same problem...guess what? yep you inspired me.
ReplyDeleteFunny how a simple change can make such a great impact!!....Great job Shenita...Love the fireplace screen that you received for your birthday!!!...
ReplyDeleteI like it. Now, do I need to ship you some pumpkins?
ReplyDeleteVery nice Shenita! I love it when it take 2 minutes to do something and ends up making a huge difference. Gotta love spray paint!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how such a small thing can make such a huge impact? Looks beautiful! I know you're going to really enjoy it now.

That is a huge improvement! I have the same brass trim, but it goes with an antique brass screen I have. But yours looks wonderful black. Goes so well with the mantel surround and that beautiful screen! :)
ReplyDeleteMuch better Shenita! My screen is very similar to yours, black with two gold strips. Looks like I'll be heading to Home Depot tomorrow for some paint!
ReplyDeleteIt truly is the little things! I can't believe the difference. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteSo that's what you use to banish those two narrow strips of brass that irk my eye every time I look at it! Thank you. Just found your blog and can't wait to discover more of it.
ReplyDeleteIt really looks so much better, Shenita. Good job!...Christine
ReplyDeleteWhat a great transformation. I agree that the brass looks better gone! Now you can focus on your beautiful new fireplace screen.
ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthday :)))) I love your transformation! We just bought some of the same spray paint to touch up our tattered fireplace. Now we just need some cool weather so we can use them! Love your pretty screen too.

Beautiful! A quick and easy update.

Just my kind of project! Looks great.
ReplyDeleteIt's so amazing how something so small can make such a huge impact! This turned out great! It looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGood idea! That shiny brass just stands out so much, doesn't it? Although it seems that brass is making something of a comeback, I'm not sure shiny brass trim will. . . I like your new look!
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks great! I keep telling my hubby we need to do that, and now I know we do. LOL Thanks for sharing the high heat paint! Thank you so much for sharing at A Bouquet of Talent. I am so happy to have you share this great idea. :)
