It's beginning to look like fall here...
Have you seen the October issue of Southern Living magazine??
As you can see, I haven't gone too crazy! I added my wreath and a couple of pots of crotons. I used a couple of black bistro chairs as plant stands. I also added a few pumpkins...for that 'pop' of orange.
The crotons pack a punch for adding seasonal color:
(I plan to add a small pot of ornamental cabbage, to the right of the chair, in this hole...lol!)
UPDATED PHOTO: I got my ornamental cabbage and a few more pumpkins and squash!!
As you can see, I haven't added my seasonal flowers (pansies and mums), just yet. It's still very warm here. However, my sweet potato vine and vincas are still going strong in my urns!
Here are my vincas in the landscape:
Once the temps cooled a bit; and we got a litle rain, these plants really started to spread!
These will probably stay until the first frost kills them off. (Gotta get my money's worth out of them!) The same holds true for my large urns of sweet potato vines:
UPDATE: I added an ornamental cabbage, additional pumpkins, and squash to this side, too!
I usually use a wreath that is very 'leafy'. This year, I chose to do something with more fall accents:
I love the combination of the pumpkins, gourds, and pinecones...
Love the mossy detail here...
I also adorned the entry with two pumpkins flanking the front door. I added a leopard print bow and a floral sprig to the stems; and hot glued my signature crosses to the front.
(A pot of ornamental cabbage will be flanking my little sign.)
UPDATE: Got my ornamental cabbage!!
That's my fall entry, so far. Later, the pansies and fall flowers will be added; but, in the meantime, here are some of my summer flowers/plants...still going strong!
My knockout roses:
My elephant ears and jasmine:
My bougainvillea:
My lantana:
My caladiums:
And my yuccas:
So, as you can see, it is still very warm here! While the calendar officially says it's fall, we have a few more weeks before it truly begins to feel like fall. Hopefully, I have captured a little bit of the autumn season, here. I hope you have enjoyed your visit!! Have a great day!!

Shenita, I love it! look absolutely gorgeous!! xo
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful home! I love all your landscaping. I have seen that magazine since I am a subscriber and that's what gave me the idea to use the cabbages out on my front steps. I always look forward to their holiday issues. Your fall wreath is very pretty and I really like how you dressed up your pumpkins by the front door using ribbon and a cross. That was very creative. You are further south from us so that explains the warmer weather you're having. It's very Fallish here today with rain and wind. Yuck! My house is so dark when it's cloudy. It's supposed to get sunny again towards the end of the week.
ReplyDeleteOh so beautiful!!! Love it all and your home is stunning! Love Love brick homes. We are having record high temps here in FL. High 80's feels like 100........... waaaaaa!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
~Marie
Very pretty and elegant! Looks like you've got a green thumb for sure!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your beautiful porchscape! I'm in TX, too and have a huge front flower bed to landscape...I'll keep checking back for tips from you. I'm your newest 'follower'. I'd love to have you come over for a visit at itsoverflowing.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteWow! Your home is gorgeous! Your entrance is breath taking!
ReplyDeleteI was so glad you dropped by my blog so that I could "meet" you and follow your GORGEOUS blog. It is as breaktaking as your home! I will be following you and will be excited to read your posts. While I love everything on your entry and your door, the pumpkins that you decorated are by far my favorite. We don't carve pumpkins at my house and are always looking for some new way to decorate them. I might just borrow the cross idea :)
ReplyDeletehave a blessed day!

How beautiful, Shenita. Love the wreath. I really like the pumpkins adorned with the cross and the leopard print ribbon. So unique.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful entry to your home.
Absolutely gorgeous! What a fabulous welcome to your home!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Shenita your high, curved entryway is my dream. Stunning gorgeous! You really created a beautiful fall entry. It's just perfect in every way. I LOVE SL magazine and will be picking this one up.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the sweet words. I'm glad we are friends too...:) ~Melissa
Thanks for your visit today. I would be happy to follow you, but there's no place for me to sign in?
ReplyDeleteI thought my entry was tall and grand (two story brick), but I guess what they say about Texas is true! That is the most beautiful window/door setup ever. And here in AZ we have many of the same plants. We actually pulled our vinca out last weekend and replaced with pansies and alyssium and geraniums. That makes it feel more like fall, anyway.
Glad to meet you.
What a lovely sight!! Once again an amazing job!!
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of Southern Living and I think you did capture the spirit of that issue on your porch. I have so many of the same plants here in Florida. They are just now looking there best after the rainy summer. Still no pansies or kale here. The big mums are out but very expensive. Your pumpkin is so your style!

Now that's an entry! WOW!! I must say, I absolutely love the iron works on either side of the windows. Just seeing the pictures, I feel as though I am about to enter into a regal chateau. The plants framing the walkway are gorgeous and the wreath on the door is not only beautiful but welcoming. Well done, Shenita! =)

Good morning Shenita, What a beautifully splendid entrance way-right out of Southern Living itself. They need to come to your welcoming home. I really like your choice of the crotons for fall color. They are perfect!!
ReplyDeleteYou have a stunning entry. Your style is so inviting.
ReplyDeleteIt is just stunning. I love that you kept the potato vines for that chartreuse color and along with the orange....it's fabulous. I haven't completed my front porch for Fall yet either because the pink and white impatiens are still so pretty. Don't want to put a feather wreath and orange pumpkins with it. :)
ReplyDeleteYour porch is just beautiful ~ can't believe how great your plants all look. You have a green thumb. Love all of your embellishments on your pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by for a visit.
Have a great day!
I love your entryway! I wish it was still warm enough here for our summer foliage, but I think that the changes are what get me motivated for fall decorating. I just HAVE to add color back in!
