~Christmas Mantel 2014~

Hi Everyone! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
Today, I just wanted to share my Christmas mantel. I usually get inspired by some place that I've visited; and Charleston had that effect on me. This year, I wanted a simple, classic look, with traditional red and green decor, and lots of plaid ribbon!

When I think of classic style, I immediately think of my all-time favorite designer... Ralph Lauren. I love his various interpretations; and I've tweaked the look for our decor. His signature style is very equestrian; and I've incorporated a 'touch' of it in my mantel decor.

There are horses and horseshoes...

Miniature silver trophies...

And a fox or two...

I even used my Ralph Lauren wellies on the hearth...

Along with a rustic, wood and leather trunk...

Our stockings are making another appearance this year, sporting our initials...

And the gold-leafed reindeer are sporting plaid bows and sprigs of evergreens and berries...

And that's our mantel for this year!

Normally, I am finished with my decor by now. But, I've decided to take my time this year. I always feel so rushed to get everything done, just to get my blog posts out. This year, I just want to savor the season. It goes so fast!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  17. Shenita, those Wellies look just like a classy Mrs. Claus's boots - they are perfect with a little greenery added. RL is always a classic hit. I just bought a RL purse for my DIL, hope she loves it, if not, she can give it back to me!! Haha. I am thinking of doing less blogging this year too - I need to savor it all but I did get my decor up before we left for Thanksgiving. That helps.

  18. I always seeing how you are decorating and your mantel is beautiful. I like the look of Ralph Lauren and glad to see how you have incorporated in your touches. Yes, the Wellies are perfect for the hearth. I understand perfectly feeling rushed to get the Christmas decor out of the box and put in place. We are running behind too, it's a little slower getting the house decorated.

  22. I am so with you on the taking your time thing! I started way, way early this year because I knew my physical shortcomings were going to slow me down. I didn't want to end up just throwing something together out of desperation, so almost as soon as the Christmas-themed fundraiser was over on November 8, I started the decorating process. Sure enough, it took 3 whole weeks to do it, and I'm STILL tweaking here and there before our annual cul-de-sac progressive dinner.

I love the Ralph Lauren-inspired look! The wellies are a really great touch! We've got rain, rain, and more rain going on here today (finally!), so mine would have to be emptied of their holiday decor and put into service!!! :-)

I love it that you have a "double decker" fireplace mantel/surround that can really get a lavish treatment. So pretty!!!

Enjoy that decorating, and have a great weekend!
