~The Fall Mantel Is Done~

Well, I admit, I have had enough of Summer! The blazing 90-100 degree days have taken their toll; and I am more than ready for Fall! Even though we have a few days left until the official first day of Fall; I decided to go ahead and decorate my mantel, to get me in the mood.

Since I decided to go with a more neutral color scheme in the family room, the fall colors have given me just enough 'punch' to spice things up a bit. I began by arranging a few orange and white pumpkins across the mantel, while elevating a couple of the larger, white ones on candlesticks.

I also brought in my favorite ZGallerie lanterns. I made swags from a large sunflower, a pumpkin embellished pick, and bittersweet, and placed one on top of each lantern.

Next, I added a floral swag to the decorative iron piece that hangs above the mantel. I slipped a few pheasant feathers in for texture.

Finally, I brought in some decorative accents, including an acorn ornament from the garden. I gave it a coat of bronze metallic paint.

In the center, I filled a harlequin jar with acorns and other fall accents...

I finished it all off with some clippings from a fall garland; and tucked the pieces in among the pumpkins.

I always start with the mantel, when decorating for the seasons; and it cost me absolutely nothing. I already had everything in my fall bins and collected the rest from around the house!

This officially starts the Fall season for me!

Thanks so much for stopping by; and I hope you're having a great day!
Happy Decorating!

  2. Love it!! I really like the way you did the lanterns, too. I am so ready for fall. I did my mantel and the front porch this week end, but I have a new camera and don't know how to use it just yet. Thanks for "officially" kicking off the fall season. Can't wait for all of the fall "parties". Great to see you.

  14. Another absolutely stunning styling by Shenita! I love decorating with objects and collections already in house. Your choice of colors, white pumpkins, and feathers come together to capture the warmth and welcome of fall. I ordered Pheasant feathers this morning for my fall centerpiece. I just love them!

You have inspired me to ignore the oppressive temps and get on with the fall of it all. Thanks, friend!

  17. I'm with you about the warm temps. We're suppose to be 90 tomorrow and the humidity will probably be in the high 60's. I am soooo tired of sweating within a few minutes of being outside! Enough of the rant....Love your Fall mantel. Was just over at Becca's blog(Adventures in Decorating) and she had a pumpkin spice candle that I'm thinking of getting to put me in the Fall mood. :)

  30. Beautiful, as always, Shenita! I'm so ready for fall weather. Our pool is so warm that after yard work last night I went for a swim! In the middle of September!! Seriously! I was planning to change the entry hall table quickly from summer to fall decor after work, but I had to bump that project out for taking care of the lawn. Rain and cooler weather, please!

  39. Very pretty, Shenita! I just bought two small white pumpkins at a nursery the other day and plopped them on my mantels candleholders. That's about as far as my indoor Fall decorating has gotten! : ) Like you, I'm ready now {even though the temps are supposed to go back up as the week progresses} and I'll be getting my Fall bins down from the attic. If I wait any longer it will be time to decorate for Christmas!

Now I'm going to look at your past posts. I love Tuscan style and, since my home is stucco with terra cotta tile roof....Mediterranean style....I think Tuscan touches fit it very well. I'm sure I'll be back with oohs and aahs!
