Hello everyone! I was so excited when Debbie announced that she would be doing a
Dollar Tree Valentine's Party.
(I love the challenge of doing things on a budget.) I don't really decorate for
Valentine's Day;
but, I thought it would be fun to put together a little setting, on the coffee table, near the fireplace.
Valentine's Day;
but, I thought it would be fun to put together a little setting, on the coffee table, near the fireplace.
For Christmas, my sweet mother-in-law sent us this wonderful table throw. (She knows me so well!) I thought the deep red brocade fabric, with the gold velvet and rope trim, would be a great romantic starting point for this setting...
This year, instead of red chargers, I used my gold ones, to coordinate with the tablecover. I also used my basic white dinnerware; and I layered it with a scrolled salad plate.
I chose this particular plate because the distressed finish reveals a touch of red underneath...
On top of each setting, I placed a heart-shaped dish of candy from The Dollar Tree.
Then, to each setting, I added champagne flutes that I already had and a couple of fun, red, whimsical table accents, also from The Dollar Tree.
While I was gathering these items, I came across these sweet birds that I bought last Spring. I decided to add them to the mix.
I finished off the setting with gold flatware, red rose petals, and clear votive holders. Instead of red roses, I purchased one bouquet of white hydrangeas, pulled the heads off, and placed them around the table.
Total spent = $8.00!!
Here is a breakdown:
Two heart shaped bowls w/candy- $2
One bag of red rose petals- $1
One bunch of white hydrangeas- $1
Four clear votive holders-$4
(I already had everything else on the table.)
So, for very little money, visit your local Dollar Tree and create a romantic setting for Valentine's Day!!
I hope you've enjoyed your visit today!!
Happy Decorating!!

ReplyDeleteI rarely decorate a table for Valentines, either. I'm seldom impressed with the available Valentine decorations....but those $ Tree candy dishes are darling. I might be able to put those to good use. Come to think of it, I do have some heart shaped dinner ware that I should pull out...Thanks for making me remember and for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteShenita your vignette looks wonderful and romantic! And gotta love the dollar store! I didn't know they carried rose petals...how perfect is that for St. Valentines days? And as always your photos are spot on!
ReplyDeleteXO Barbara
Looks lovely Shenita. Is there going to be a romantic dinner to go with that tablescape?
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Kim
Great job, Shenita! I wish I had known about this challenge. I was just in Dollar Tree yesterday poking around. I'm glad you showed the close-up of the salad plate rim. That red peeking out from beneath the white is cool and really adds to the overall look. I'm with you...I rarely decorate for Valentine's Day. I'm usually more into Mardi Gras right around that time. The food's better! :-) Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteFantastic job, Shenita. It still has your glamorous touch.
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful! Don't you just LOVE the Dollar Tree??? =D
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Shenita...the throw is gorgeous.

Wow, that is a very impressive table Shenita! Your mother-in-law did a great job on finding a table cover that fits your style perfect. I was just at the Dollar Tree yesterday, hoping to find some Valentine's Day things to use for table accents. I bought a few things, but after seeing your lovely table, I think I need to go back. Your dishes and those table accents are all very pretty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful Valentine tablescape, Shenita! You certainly know how to turn something from the Dollar Tree into a million bucks! The plates are lovely, and what a fabulous throw from your mother-in-law!
