~Favorite Gift-Giving Ideas~ The Polohouse-Favorites On The First

Wow, can you believe that November is here? Before you know it, the hustle and bustle of the holiday season will be upon us! My sweet friend, Alison, over at The Polohouse, is hosting her monthly linky party, "Favorites on the First". This month, her topic is 'Favorite Gifts to Give'. With the holidays just around the corner, I've got my eye on a few things that I think would make great gifts!

Being a Southern girl, I'm a sucker for anything monogrammed. I love these 'Alphabet Stoneware Mugs' from Pottery Barn. At only $10 each, you can easily buy them to give individually; or put a set together for those special people on your list.

Ornaments are also high on my list, when it comes to gift giving. This set of 4 Gilded Sunburst Ornaments comes from Wisteria. The set is priced at $49.00...I like to buy really nice sets of ornaments, separate them, and add them to gift bags to take home, after parties. You get more bang for your buck!

Another favorite when it comes to gift giving is anything that has been personalized. Friends love to receive things that have been customized just for them. You can take these ordinary items to any place that does embroidery and turn them into something special, by adding a first name, last name, or monogram.
These two items are perfect for this:

Throws...

Handwoven Plaid Throws

and towels...

These items can be purchased in a wide range of price points, making them perfect for any budget.

Finally, Alison challenged us to include a gift that we would give, if money were no object...in true Oprah spirit! After giving it a little thought, I would love to give all of my friends and loved ones first class vacations to ANY destination of their choice!!

Paris?

Tuscany?

Monaco?

The options would be endless!!

Well, that's it for today. I hope I have sparked some ideas to assist with your holiday gift giving. Be sure to hop over to "The Polohouse" and check out some of the other great ideas, or submit some of your own!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

  1. I love the monogrammed mugs! I have some from Hobby Lobby, but one broke. Need to replace it. That would make a great teacher gift! (Aren't you glad you don't have to do that anymore?) You've definitely chosen some great gift ideas. I think a trip to Paris would be the best though! I'll let you know where you can mail my ticket. Ha!

  3. Hi Shenita,

  4. I wish I could give the gift of Tuscany (or even take it for myself haha)! My mother is always cold, and I think she would love one of those throws. Also, the monogrammed mugs are beautiful and are perfect work gifts. Here is a cute idea for kids or someone with a kitsch and quirky sense of humor. Custom bobbleheads. I got my nephew one. It looks just like him, and he loves it.

  9. Great ideas! I love to give and receive throws, mugs, and other goodies for coziness. I have started a little bit of shopping..mostly little stuff so far. Sitting in traffic the other day, I decided that shopping needs to be finished by Thanksgiving. Too much traffic here in Dallas to be trying to do that in December. That's my thinking anyway.:)

  12. Ooh! Sign me up for one of those first-class vacations! I'll take Paris, thank you!

So nice to see you. My busy schedule has me away from the blogosphere most of the time these days. I can hardly believe it's November! I started Christmas shopping last month trying to get a jump-start, but now that November has rolled around, I feel that old panic trying to sneak up on me! :D

  14. I love all these ideas. Especially loving those monogrammed coffee mugs. I am forever picking up someone else's mug around here. Maybe one for each member of the family? Thank goodness we do not have any first initial repeats in our house!

And thanks so much for reminding me to go back and add that bonus question too. I was in such a rush to get the post up this evening, I completely forgot about the BONUS!

    You are the best!

  19. Shenita,
Great gift giving ideas, dear friend!!!
Oddly, I just purchased new towels for the "public" bath!!! I was desperately in need of new towels (couldn't believe it had been 6 years!!!), but think hosting a progressive Christmas Brunch prompted me to capitalize on a GREAT $ale!!! Have a great weekend...enjoy these gorgeous Fall days...cooler weather forecasted for our area next week!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  24. Hi, Shenita! I've been under the radar for a couple of weeks, but catching up on things I've missed in my absence. I would be eternally grateful for ANY of these gifts and equally thrilled to be able to GIVE them!!!! Those monogrammed mugs are SO cool! I love the handle on them! I don't think you can ever have too many good blankets or towels. They are a staple! When they're pretty & soft, they just shift the mood totally over to the "I Am Loved" column! :-) Have a good week!
