Debbiedoo's Fall 2012 Magazine Copy Cat Challenge

When Debbie first announced her Fall 2012 Magazine Copy Cat Challenge, I immediately started to flip through my Fall magazines for some inspiration. I needed something that was super easy, as I have been so busy lately. My inspiration struck me in the September/October issue of Southern Lady magazine, on page 70.

I loved the simplicity of this setting; and realized that the dinner plate was eerily similar to my wedding china. I decided to see if I could come close!

To replicate the plaid runner on the table, I pulled my Burberry scarf from the closet;

but, instead of the fox plate, in the inspiration photo, I used a turkey plate that I previously purchased from Williams-Sonoma.

I layered the plates on a rattan charger from Cost Plus World Market. The dinner plate, cup and saucer are all "Wedding Band" by Mikasa. I already had the round votive holder, like the one in the inspiration photo; and I added the jar candle for fun.

And, now, I'm a copy cat, with no money spent!!!

What do you think? Did I get close??

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a great day!!

  27. Uh, YEAH you did!!! Great job! Great idea to use your scarf to replicate the plaid table covering!!! I have that issue of Southern Lady, and I remember wanting those plates SO bad. I saw some similar ones while out browsing in a store where I couldn't afford to breathe, let alone buy anything! They were outrageously priced at something like $39 for a salad plate. Humph! I'll just have to search and luck up on something because there's NO WAY I'm paying that for a salad plate that I'll probably only use 3 or 4 times in my life!!! Anyhoooooo.....fabu! You nailed it! Have a good weekend!!!
