~Accents In The Powder Room AND The Winner of the Anniversary Giveaway!~

Happy Wednesday, Everyone! Hope you had a great holiday weekend!

Today, I wanted to give you a glimpse of my powder room. Of all the homes we've owned, this is the smallest powder room we've ever had. It is so tiny, that we aren't able to put in a vanity...so, the pedestal sink stays! However, I didn't let that stop me from treating it as my own little "jewel box". I also found a clever way to store all of the necessary extras.

Come on in!!

The powder bath is to the left, just off the family room, through the arched doorway...

I purchased this cute little sign for the door, several years ago, at one of my favorite home decor boutiques.

The Powder Room is just to the left of this niche...

The room is small; but, I still embraced all of the deep tones. These little rooms can be tricky to photograph; so, I hope you'll bear with me, since I really just want to focus on the accents today.

(You can catch a glimpse of the pedestal sink and light fixture in the glass, to the left.)

In our previous home, we had a huge bay window behind the kitchen sink. I bought this wrought iron basket to hold my houseplants and herbs that loved the morning sun.

In this house, I no longer have a bay window in the kitchen or powder room vanity, so it has become the perfect place to store extra toilet paper rolls, hand towels, and hand soap. It fits perfectly between the commode and pedestal sink.

I love the detail on the lid...

On the walls, I have a pair of large topiary prints. I have had these for about 15 years. They have had a different location in each of our last 3 homes; and I still love them. This time, they ended up here.

(This one is above the commode.)

On the adjoining wall, flanking one of the prints, is a pair of candle sconces. I got these at Kirkland's a couple of years ago. When we entertain, I love to light scented votives in them. The flickering candlelight and warm scents provide a nice surprise for our guests. The scent of the moment is Aromatique's "Cinnamon Cider".

(The colors in the prints blend perfectly with the faux finished wallpaper...I love using large prints in small spaces!)

On the opposite wall, a small night light provides ambient lighting.

I love this little lampshade!

I also love the bronze accessories that I purchased a few years ago at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Like this tissue box...

Wastebasket...

and Soap Dispenser.

I love using a mix of finishes in the powder bath. I think it keeps things interesting.

However, today, what I especially wanted to share with you is a new addition to the powder bath. A few weeks ago, I shared with you some fleur de lis accents that I had picked up in Louisiana. As you may recall, these fleur de lis guest towels came home with me.

Well, last week, Beverly, a lovely lady from Ruston, Louisiana saw them on my blog and sent me a package...Are you ready for this?!

She had seen the guest towels that I bought and had the perfect accent for them!!

Isn't this beautiful?!!

Bev makes matching candles for those cute little guest towels and has a new shop on Etsy! Take a look at some of her creations...

Hand decorated Fleur De Lis Candle w/Matching Napkins
Hand Decorated Candle w/Matching Napkins

Vintage Decorated Candle
There are even candles made from vintage napkins!!

Wouldn't these make awesome gifts?! Or imagine them in your own bathrooms or kitchens! You could have the perfect coordinates for your seasonal decor!! You can even contact Beverly for custom orders using napkins of your own! Imagine what a hit they would be at your brunch or luncheon, as guests admire your lovely tablescapes, with coordinating candles and guest towels!

Well, needless to say, I was so excited to use the candle in my powder bath! Here it is with the guest towels that I bought in Louisiana.

Little did she know that it would coordinate so well with everything from the area rug on the floor...

To the art on the wall...

To the hand towel, just behind the door!!

The candle is perfect!!!
I simply added a few fall embellishments!

Thanks so much for visiting with me today. I hope you've enjoyed this little peek into another room of my home.
Please stop by and check out Bev's Etsy shop...

  8. I love how cozy and elegant your powder room is. Before I went lighter and neutral in my house, I had a red powder room similar to yours. I loved it and it was one of the last rooms that I changed just so it would flow with the rest of the house. It's such a great color for a small room like that. Your new candle and hand towels fit perfectly in there. I like how you set up your towels in a vertical rack surrounded by fall foliage. I think your guests will feel very pampered in there.

  34. I too have a teeny little powder room in my house. I remember when we built it Mom and I had several dicussions with the builder over where to put the toilet because she and I wanted a corner to put in a shelf to decorate. You know how men are. He thought we were crazy, but we did get our corner. Well, almost 14 years later, we are still struggling to decorate this tiny room that is basically just big enough for you to do your business and get out.

You have done on wonderful job on making your small powder room a beauty just like the rest of your house. Your new candle is the perfect finishing touch with all the other French accents in the room.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving your kind comment on my living room last night.

  38. Shenita, thank you so much for visiting and exploring my blog and for the lovely compliments. I have had time to also pay a visit to yours and so enjoyed seeing pictures of your lovely home. Our decorating taste is quite similar. It must be a Louisiana thing, huh? I live in Shreveport and would love to meet you for lunch when you are coming thru on your way to Ruston, the place of my birth. My daughter lives in the Dallas area so we do have much in common.
