Even though I haven't spent a great deal of time on the house, I've been adding some Louisiana accents; and I found a couple of items that I wanted to share with you.
While watching an episode of Paula Deen's cooking show, I noticed the awesome pewter measuring cups that she was using. I immediately went online to search for them in the Paula Deen store. They were by Crosby and Taylor and retail for $177.95!! Whoa!!

They also have a matching set of measuring spoons that retail for $77.95!!

Aren't they gorgeous?! Well, needless to say, I wanted them both; but, not at those prices!!!
Well, imagine my surprise when I discovered these wonderful measuring spoons at a little shop called, "The Beehive", in Ruston, Lousiana!
The detail is just gorgeous! And what Louisiana girl can ever have too many fleur de lis pieces in her kitchen??!!
The bowl of each spoon features a fleur de lis, as well as the handles...
Isn't the detail pretty?! The best part is that they were only $19.95!!
And while perusing the shelves...wouldn't you know it?! The coordinating measuring cups!!!
Again, the same great detail...
The retail price was $39.95!! I couldn't resist and bought, both, the measuring cups and spoons!! I can't wait to display them on my kitchen counter. In fact, there was an entire assortment of pewter fleur de lis serving pieces that I will be purchasing, when we take the girls back to school. "The Beehive" has become one of my new "must visit" stops, on my trips home to Louisiana. These pieces will work beautifully with my Arthur Court beverage dispenser and red Paula Deen cookware!!! After I rearrange a few things, there will be no doubt that a Louisiana girl lives here!!
And for one of those "why not?" purchases, I grabbed a couple of packages of these guest towels, for the powder bath, at the Hallmark store, next door to "The Beehive"...
I just love adding sweet little accents to my home!
In the coming weeks, I will be back with some new posts, as I tweak the house a bit, after the girls are off to school. New furniture and dark, hand-scraped hardwoods are on the agenda!
Hope you're all having a great summer; and thanks for stopping by!
Enjoy your weekend!!

Welcome back!!! I love these. xo
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Sounds like you've been very busy during the summer. Love your new cups and spoons. I can't believe how expensive the other ones were! You found a set just as nice. Your upcoming changes sound wonderful! Can't wait to see them.
ReplyDeleteGreat little spoons, I have been attracted to fleur de lis lately but surprised at the price.
ReplyDeleteGlad your coming back! I hope to be back in time for fall decorating. Oh, I can't wait!! Hand scraped floors???? Oooooh, we just did hand scraped floors, and I don't have a clue what took us so long!
ReplyDeleteHi Shenita, Wow, love those spoons and measuring cups. I would have brought them home with me too. Great finds.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the world of empty nesters! It's not easy to get use to so give yourself a little time!
Have a wonderful weekend.

Missed you, girl, didn't realize it had been a month, my posts have been fewer this summer too. I LOVE both the spoons and cups! I have stainless oval and I like them but they aren't this decorative and awesome. But they are super functional and the stainless steel wears awesome. I loved them so much I bought my MIL a set (she admired them so). My daughter is in college this fall too, but going to a local county college for the first year. She's working and gaining independence, so it's almost like we are empty-nesters too! Kinda like it :)
ReplyDeleteThose were great finds. My oldest is leving for college this year too. Time does fly.
ReplyDeleteLove your measuring spoons! They are so charming! I have the first two sets you pictured, and fell in love with them, too, watching Paula Deen. But I got mine new, off of ebay about 2-3 years ago, for much less! I use them most every time I cook, and they still look great! Love them!
ReplyDeleteIt was so good to see your post! Have been wondering how you were doing! I have one leaving for college Monday after next! Hope everything goes well with your daughters' move-in! :)
What great bargains you found on those items. I'm glad you were able to get what you wanted without spending a fortune. They will make cooking more fun, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteOh so pretty Shenita!! Cant wait to see them in your kitchen!!
ReplyDeleteWe've missed you! And, what beautiful spoons! I LOVE the fleur-de-lis ... the details are incredible, and the price was awesome (compared to Miss Paula's!) I look forward to seeing where you place them!
ReplyDeleteHi Shenita, you did good lady. I happen to have those Paula Deen pewter measuring cups and measuring spoons. My husband bought them for me. In any case, your are beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteShenita, I love these too...so pretty! Enjoy your empty nest.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see you back. We sent girls off a few years ago, so I know this fall will be tough for you. But, it's always fun to find a few new things to divert yourself! Very pretty new things for your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI love the beehive. Remember I had a daughter go to Tech about 6 years ago and I am an Alum. Just remember pewter is not dishwasher safe. You wil have to hand wash. Lori
ReplyDeleteLove 'em! How fun to have such beautiful, everyday items. You really improved on Paula's price! Linda
ReplyDeleteShenita, Those are gorgeous, and I so love the prices. Have fun being empty nesters.
ReplyDeleteWhat awesome finds! I really love fleur-de-lis and I actually prefer your find over the Paula Deen ones. So happy to hear from you and hope you enjoy the rest of your summer. : )

I WANT IT ALL!!! :)
ReplyDeleteShenita,
ReplyDeleteI was JUST about to visit YOUR blog and say I loved the measuring spoons! I have seen those, prob when I lived there and always thought they were such a great gift. I still have a few touches of fleur de lis's in my home to remember our special time in Mandeville!
Blessings,
Amanda
Shenita I love anything with a Fleur on it and those are beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh! They are gorgeous! I've been on the lookout for them locally, but have yet to find them. Thank you for sharing. Saw you over at You're Talking too Much. Would love it if you would share this at my Make it Pretty Monday party at The Dedicated House which goes live at 8am CST on Monday. http://thededicatedhouse.blogspot.com Hope to see you at the bash! Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
ReplyDeleteOh, I can certainly see why you had to go on a hunt for these little beauties. Can't wait to see how you use them. Good luck making that adjustment to "empty nesters!"

Welcome back Shenita, you've been missed! I want those, so pretty! XO ~Liz
ReplyDeleteShenita, somehow I had missed this post! The measuring spoons are just gorgeous! What a beautiful find and such a great price! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteI really like your measureing cups & spoons, when I was in Savannah Georgia kitchen store I seen the set Paula Deen uses on her show. I wanted them also but passed since I am not baking once a week any more, trying to cut out the baking products
ReplyDeleteOh they're just beautiful! The fleurs de lys is big where I live too ( Montreal, Canada - french speaking province )
ReplyDeleteYour newest follower- would love to have you come by and follow back when you have a chance!
Hugs,

WOW... those are awesome! I'm jealous!! I've seen that kind of measuring cups and spoons but not with the Fleur-de-lis! Those Paula Dean ones were way overpriced!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful ... I have ones like those but with roosters on the top, but I'm loven the fleur de lis!
ReplyDeleteFrancine
This Louisiana girl would love to have both sets! Unfortunately, I'm not anywhere near Ruston!
ReplyDeleteWaht an awesome find for so little of the retail price that I have been seeing for these! I LOVE your set even better than the P/D. set!
ReplyDeleteWow, they are beautiful! The Beehive is one of my favorite places in Ruston!! Always spend too much in there. My son is at LA Tech, so every trip includes a stop at the Beehive. :)
ReplyDeleteI think the ones you found are the best! I love the fleur-de-lis :) You have the same initials as my husband :) I am a new follower!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a much better price for the spoons and cups! Miss Paula must really think highly of hers to be charging that much!!
ReplyDeleteI love flours too Shenita! I have spied those or similar ones at The Nutcracker Market for the past few years. Maybe this year I will break down and get um!;) Thanx for coming to the party.
