22 Years and Counting...

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Wow, it has been a whirlwind of activity around here! With my youngest daughter preparing to graduate next Monday, we have been swamped with prom, cheer banquet, and college forms. However, Dear Hubby and I took a small break to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary, on May 26th. We decided to get away for the weekend and took off for Asheville, NC. The scenery there is just stunning! Along the way, I did some shopping...more on that later in this post!!

While the Biltmore Estate is the most popular tourist destination, we decided to just take in the scenery on a drive along the famed Blue Ridge Parkway.  When God painted this landscape, it was truly a masterpiece!!

 The drive was just spectacular!!

While I loved all of the gorgeous scenery, the decorator in me wanted to SHOP! One of my favorite shops, located near the Biltmore Estate, was this cute little place called " The Last Straw".

The owner told us that this is one of the original houses that Mr. George Vanderbilt commissioned to house the masons who worked on the Biltmore Estate. It has 3 original fireplaces and charming, creaky wood floors. It is two stories of delicious "eye-candy", sure to delight any decorator!

As you can see, there were a lot of pretty sights in Asheville! I hope you have enjoyed your visit here today; and I can't wait to post on a more regular basis, once things calm down. Hope you're having a great day!!

  16. Congrats on your 22nd anniversay!!! Looks like you took a lovely trip. I lived in Asheville for a few years when I was a kid and sure didn't appreciate the beauty of it way back then. When my parents bought our house, I remember that my mother's biggest "must have" was a picture window with a view in the living room.

  17. Oh my goodness...I'm in heaven driving along with you. We used to drive this area on trips as a kid and it brings back such fond memories. Next time you go, if it's not your anniversary (congratulations, by the way!) and your husband doesn't want to go shopping, I'll ride shotgun if you like. :) Looks like you know how to take a little trip~

  29. Happy Anniversary! And, thank you for taking us on the trip with you. I really enjoyed the pictures! :) My 15th anniversary was on the 24th, but, our boys' birthdays are on the 19th and 23rd and my daughter graduated pre-K on the 24th. So, with the whirlwind of those activities, we didn't get to celebrate it (didn't help that the hubby swooped back into town just minutes before the 7pm graduation, either). We will celebrate next month but NEXT year, I'm thinking Biltmore! :) Have a great day.
