Favorite Christmas Gift to Give

My friend, Alison, over at The Polohouse, is hosting a new party, on the first of every month, called..."Favorites On The First". Each month, she will post a question regarding your faves.  This month's question is, "What is your favorite holiday gift to give?"

I love giving candles as holiday gifts.  It is so easy to run in a store, pick up a candle, put it in a pretty gift bag or decorative container...and you're ready to go!  Or, if you have the time, you can get really creative with your packaging. They also make great take-home gifts, after a holiday party.

Today, I thought I would share with you some of my faves. I shared these with you a couple of months ago, as a part of my fall giveaway; but, I continue to love these right through the Christmas holidays.

My "go-to" scents are usually Lampe Berger fragrances. You can light one and the fragrance quickly wafts through the entire house! I have these lamps in almost every room, in various colors and styles. These make great gifts because you can choose from a variety of lamp styles, to match the decor of the recipient:

My favorite scents are:
Lampe Berger Parfum De Maison - 33.8oz/1L Orange Cinnamon
"Orange Cinnamon" (Especially for the holidays!)

Lampe Berger Parfum De Maison - 33.8oz/1L New Orleans
"New Orleans" (A fruity, sweet scent, with a hint of cinnamon)

Lampe Berger 500ml/16.9-Fluid Ounces, Parfum De Maison

"Vanilla Gourmet" (The essence of a newly split vanilla pod)

Lampe Berger 500ml/16.9-Fluid Ounces, Parfum De Maison
"Borneo Teak Wood" (An elegant woodsy blend)
This is a more masculine, gender-neutral scent.
In fact, I used this one during my holiday party last year,
and received many compliments from both, the guys and the girls.

Then, when it comes to candles, my favorites come in all price ranges. My favorite boutique candles and home fragrance brands are by Archipelago and Orleans.

First, let's talk about Archipelago! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!! My three faves are:
'Positano'-This one is a blend of white nectarine, persimmon, and
Pomegranate.
'Stonehenge'- This one is a blend of smoked cedarwood, bergamont and amber.

Archipelago Botanicals 4 x 6 Pillar Candle - Havana
And, 'Havana'- This one is a blend of bergamont, tobacco leaf, and ylang ylang. (It is my absolute favorite of the three...reminds me of a great smelling man! LOL!!)

My next favorite brand is Orleans.

I love the "Creme Brulee" and "Fireside" scents. The "Creme Brulee" is truly the essence of that yummy dessert. It smells delicious!  The "Fireside" scent captures the cozy aroma of a warm, crackling fire.  These two truly make you want to stay home and snuggle under a warm throw and just relax!

For department store candles, my favorite brand is Aromatique!
I love the "Cinnamon Cider" scent. Yummy! A great blend of apples and cinnamon.

Then, there's the ever-faithful Yankee Candles. My favorite holiday scent (even though it's marketed as a fall scent)... is Autumn Wreath.

This one is a wonderful blend of the spicy leaves of autumn and cinnamon apples.

**Tip of the Day: Did you know that if you put a thin layer of water in the bottom of your votive holder, before inserting your candle, the hardened wax will pop right out, once the candle has burned all the way down?**

And, those are my favorite things!  Have a great day!!

So when I come over, I will call first, and can you burn any of the others for me?????

Right now we're enjoying the Vanilla Sandalwood & Fresh Balsam Wallflowers from Bath & Bodyworks. I also like their Island Margarita candles and love having one burning when I'm working in the kitchen. I'll definitely have to try some of the scents you mentioned, they sound lovely!

  45. I live in the Philippines (but don't worry: I have a US mainland mailing address! *wink*) and candles aren't popular here. IT'S JUST TOO HOT! Anyway, I did manage to find some nice jar candles the other day. I bought a Sandalwood for our master bedroom and a pumpkin spice for our kitchen. Oh! They both just remind me of HOME.

I also love Olio products that spray. The Apple Cinnamon lasts a long time and is just wonderful.

  56. Thanks so much for stopping by yesterday, I am following back and love your blog, you have beautiful ideas, I love the table scape! I do them at our house when we have an open house for selling and my agent always says people are saying they could see themselves having a dinner party in the dining room or breakfast in the kitchen. I also am a candle burner and use summer scents like lilac in the middle of Winter to get rid of the winter blues. Its nice to smell cut grass or flowers in the middle of a snow storm. My current kick is the creamy pumpkin from Bath and Body Works.
