Is It Soup Yet?

Last week, I did a post about my great finds from the Salvation Army. I decided to incorporate some of them into my tablesetting for tonight's dinner.

I started by scrunching up a scarf that I got from Target, a couple of seasons ago, as a table runner. I love the fall colors of the paisley pattern. (I'm sure you have some great scarves that would look awesome used as table runners!)

I used my everyday woven placemats. They were a perfect match! On top of the placemats, I used the leaf plates from the Better Homes and Gardens collection, at Wal-Mart. They were only $2.99 each!

While there, I also picked up a couple of sets of these woven fall napkins. I loved the embroidered leaf and acorn embellishment. They were $2.99, as well.

To add some decorative accents, I decided to use the gold platter that I scored at the Salvation Army thrift store, last week. (I used the green one in my last tablescape.) I filled it with an assortment of grapes that I had lying around.

Then, I added in "Chef Dude" from the kitchen, for a little whimsy. (That's what we call him...lol!)

I also used a wood carved accent piece, from the kitchen, as well.

I love all of the grapes, acorns, nuts, and fruit carved into the piece. I think it works well in a fall tablescape!  To balance the other side of the table, I used my harlequin patterned jar, filled with fall leaves and accents. I borrowed it from a side table vignette.

To complete each placesetting, I used the soup crocks that I scored at the Salvation Army for $0.99 each! I think they look great layered on top of the leaf plates!

I finished the table off with a few small pumpkins and miniature fall accents.

I lit a few votives and threw in a couple of lanterns, and we are now ready for dinner!

It is really easy to shop your home and set a great table for little to no money! Rethink how you use some of the accent pieces in your home and add them to your dining table for fun!

Hope you've enjoyed your visit today...Happy Monday!!

Verse of the day:
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Psalm 118:1  (NIV)

  6. Lovely tablescape, Shenita. I used to have a "Chef Dude", too. lol Did you paint your chef with oil-rubbed-bronze paint? I donated mine to GW a while back when I was clearing stuff out. Wish I would have kept him!!
What a good idea of using a scarf instead of a table runner.

  12. All of those colors look so pretty together. That was a good idea to use a scarf in the center. So, what kind of soup are you serving? Butternut squash soup would be good with this table setting!

  17. Those soup bowls bring back memories because we had similiar ones when I was a little girl. Love all the fall touches you added to the table, but my favorite part is how you added the small pumpkins to the table. Sometimes it's that excepted punch that pulls the whole look together, and that's what those little surprises did for your table. Thanks for visitng my blog today!

  32. So beautiful, Shenita. Thank you for reminding me that scarfs would be great on the table. I have many that belonged to my mom and I think she would be thrilled to know that I was using them that way. She always oohed and ahhed when I set a pretty table.

  49. I want to visit the Salvation Army store someday....some of my daughter's friends in Rockwall told her that it can be a really great source of decorator items if you watch carefully. You table is worth of publication in a high end decorating magazine......it is just so warm and inviting. I really think "Chef Dude" is so cute. My grandson thinks he wants to attend culinary school at THE culinary institute in upper New York.....I may start calling him, "CHEF Dude"....giggle

  56. Hi, Shenita! I have been incredibly slow this week! Traveling sticks me with my husband's slow-as-molasses laptop which makes it really, really hard to move through the TT posts. I wish I had a laptop that is as lightning-fast as my desktop! Very pretty table, and a great tutorial on using items from all around the house. There are always so many fabulous treasures right under our noses that often get overlooked. Have a happy Halloween!

  57. Hi Shenita...

You've done it again, my friend! You have created another beautiful autumn table! First of all...I love "Chef Dude"! Cute name! I also like your tall topiary...it's gorgeous...as well as the tall harlequin jar! They make a grand stagtement for the table centerpiece!

I think it's a great idea to use a pretty autumn scarf for the runner...ohhh...and I love paisley! The place settings are beautiful..and so perfect! A beautiful table, my friend! Thank you so much for sharing it with us for the Sunday Favorites party this week! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend, my friend!

    Warmest autumn wishes,
