The "Fruits" of my Labor...It's Harvest Time!

Happy Monday, everyone!! Wow! What a thunderstorm we had last night! Torrential rains, winds of 60 mph, and quarter-sized hail. As most of you know, Texas has been experiencing a severe drought; and wildfires have become quite prevalent. Despite the severity of last night's storm, we were blessed to have had some significant rain.

While all of that was going on, I decided to get creative, to provide a distraction. There is a space on the corner of my center island that I thought could use a touch of fall. I dug into my "box of treats" and got creative.

I decided to make this arrangement from grapes and artichokes that I had used before, in some other arrangements.  I added a few pumpkins, gourds, a couple of fall picks and a couple of loaves of bread.

Once I got it all arranged, I decided to add Mr. Rooster and a cookbook to the mix. I bought the candlestick lamp at a friend's garage sale for $5 and added the beads to the lamp shade with my trusty hot glue gun.

I think it adds a festive punch of color to the corner of the center island!

Verse for today:
Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.   James 5:18 (NIV)

  3. Gorgeous!! I love your container and the artichokes, grapes and pumpkins. Such a pretty vignette in your kitchen. I'm your newest follower. Don't know how I missed you before. I'm so glad you got rain. A lot of us here in GA have been praying for rain for you. We are so far below the rain we need, but nothing like what Texas is experiencing.
    Great verse.

  12. That looks perfect on your kitchen island. It's so professional looking! That basket that your arrangement is in is perfect to change out with the seasons. I think some stormy weather may be headed our way based on the clouds outside. I hope it is!
